Turkish Human Rights Activist to Stand Trial for Comments on Genocide

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenpress news agency has cited an unconfirmed Turkish source report that Turkish human rights leader Akin Birdal is to stand trial in Turkey for his efforts at having the Armenian Genocide acknowledged in his country

Birdal has been blamed for "disgracing the Turkish people due to slanderous statemen’s made in public calling on Turkey to apologize to the Armenia’s."

If convicted–the human rights activist may face up to six years imprisonment.
