Russian Armenians Offer Help to Armenia

YEREVAN (Armenpress–Noyan Tapan)–President Kocharian received on March 3 the Chairman of the "Union of Armenia’s in Russia," Ara Abrahamian. According to Kocharian’s press office–Abrahamian presented the programs his organization intends to carry out both in Russia and Armenia. According to him–the organization is willing to make contributions to the economic progress in Armenia and attract investmen’s in the country.

Abrahamian said that on the Union’s initiative a delegation of businessmen will soon arrive in Armenia to discuss business programs. The purpose of the visit is to probe the ground for placing possible orders with Armenian enterprises for the production of special equipment and other products. The group–which is due to arrive soon–will also discuss long-term economic cooperation plans.

Kocharian welcomed the Union’s activity and pledged support for its work and programs. Kocharian underlined his readiness to assist activities of the union. He said that the Armenian community of Russia possesses a huge potential–and–if correctly used–may be of mutual benefit.

The sides also addressed the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of proclamation of Christianity in Armenia.
