Horizon Presents Renowned French Armenian Singer Rosy Armen

GLENDALE–Celebrated French-Armenian singer Rosy Armen will take the stage in a long-awaited concert being presented by Horizon Armenian Television–and sponsored by the Armenian Cultural Foundation (ACF). The performance will feature a 20-piece jazz ensemble to be conducted by Mikael Avedisian.

Rosy Armen has toured extensively throughout Europe–the Middle East and the former Soviet Union. She has been honored and acclaimed by some of the Soviet Union’s biggest personalities–including Tigran Petrossian (six-time world chess champion)–Marshal Bagramian (former Soviet Minister of Culture)–and famous composer Aram Khatchaturian who dedicated his song "The Black Rose" to her.

In 1966–Rosy Armen was selected as one of France’s Top Twenty Most Popular singers. The following year–Rosy was the only singer invited to participate at the coronation festivities held for Iranian Empress Farah Diba. She has performed with prominent musical figures like Maurice Chevalier and Julio Inglesias.

Rosy Armen has always made it a point to include songs in her native Armenian. In 1972–she recorded her first album made up of exclusively Armenian songs. This resulted in numerous invitations to perform in the US–including a concert at Carnegie Hall.

After withdrawing from the public eye for nearly two decades–this multi-cultural ambassador who sings in German–English–Armenian–Spanish–and Italian is back to what she does best. Her return to Armenia to participate in ceremonies commemorating the Genocide–inspired her to start singing again.

Horizon Television will present Rosy Armen in an unforgettable concert on Sunday–March 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Glendale High School’s Auditorium (1440 E. Broadway Ave.–Glendale). For more information call (818)246-1989 or (818)500-0790.
