YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Russian Ambassador to Armenia Anatoly Dryukov–introduced the new chief of the Operative Group of the Federal Border Service of Russia–Major-General Vyacheslav Aboimov to Armenian President Robert Kocharian on March 29–in Armenia.
Ambassador Dryukov briefed President Kocharian on Aboimov’s experience in the military field. Vyacheslav Aboimov has been stationed in Armenia’since June of 1999–and is quite familiar with the country. Kocharian congratulated the new chief and expressed hope that he would maintain friendly and cooperative traditions between Armenia and Russia.
Later that day–President Kocharian received Gennady Zyuganov–First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Zyuganov arrived in Yerevan to participate in the general assembly of Armenia’s communist party. According to the presidential press office–issues regarding Armenian-Russian relations and relations between government and political parties were discussed during the meeting. Both realized the importance of increasing trade between the two countries.
