The Joint Committee on the Commemoration of the 86th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide held its first session on Thursday–March 29 at the Armenian Educational Foundation’s Peshekerian Center in Glendale.
Present were representatives from the Prelacy and Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church–the Armenian Evangelical and Catholic denominations–and close to 25 community organizations.
The attendants elected a Joint Commemoration Body and an Executive Committee. An outline was drawn up after the attendees exchanged views on issues related to observing the Genocide.
On April 24 of every year–the community gathers at the Armenian Genocide Monument in Montebello (12:00 p.m.) to pay respect to the victims of the Genocide.
The Joint Committee on the Commemoration of the 86th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will soon inform the community of more detailed information regarding this year’s commemoration.
