Turkish State Minister Pursues Turkish Interests in Florida

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Upon his return from Florida to Istanbul on April 9–State Minister Sukru Sina Gurel stated that he had useful meetings with US representatives in Florida to try and block Armenian initiatives on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Gurel also said Turkey should improve its relations with American states. Stressing Florida has a very important geographic situation–he said Turkey could bolster its trade ties with South America through Florida. Indicating a Florida trade delegation would come to Turkey soon–Gurel added he had very useful contacts with American authorities.

According to Anatolia News Agency–Gurel also met with the Secretary of State of Florida Katherine Harris–who agreed to support Turkey’s position regarding the issue of recognizing the Armenian Genocide through resolutions.
