ANC PAC Urges Armenian American Participation in Los Angeles Elections

LOS ANGELES–The Armenian National Committee-Political Action Committee would like to remind and encourage Armenian American residents of Los Angeles to get out and vote on Tuesday–June 5. This is a very important election in which the ANC-PAC has endorsed four candidates–who have been strong supporters of the Armenian American community in the greater Los Angeles area: Antonio Villaraigosa for Mayor–Mike Feuer for City Attorney–Eric Garcetti for the 13th LA City Council district–and Mike Feuer for the Los Angeles City Council 5th District.

Villaraigosa–who has been a long-time public servant–has an impressive record of accomplishmen’s as a legislator and community advocate. With a strong record of advocacy on issues of concern to the Armenian American community of California in general–but particularly to Armenian Americans who reside within Los Angeles proper–Villaraigosa has been a continuous champion of the proper affirmation and recognition of the Armenian Genocide. At the same time–the former State Assembly leader has made fair representation and the inclusion of the diverse Los Angeles community a cornerstone of his years of public service–and his current campaign.

Feuer–who during his 6-year tenure on the LA City Council has become one of the staunchest advocates for the Armenian American community–is the leading candidate in the City Attorney’s race. Feuer’s record on issues facing the Armenian American community of Los Angeles is one of continued support for a variety of concerns–including the proper recognition and affirmation of the Armenian Genocide. Feuer also played an instrumental role in the designation of a portion of heavily Armenian populated Hollywood as "Little Armenia."

Garcetti–who has been a long time friend of the Armenian American community–is well informed on Armenian issues and has pledged to lead a responsive and accessible city hall administration in district 13.

Former State Senator Tom Hayden has also received an endorsement for the Los Angeles City Council 5th District–spanning the eastern portion of the San Fernando Valley. Hayden–who has a long record of public service–has served in the California State Senate–and has been an activist for a variety of community causes. With a firm commitment to balanced governance–which takes into consideration all interests in the community–including–residents–businesses–environmental concerns,the youth and education.

The ANC-PAC strongly urges Armenian American voters to take time on Tuesday June 5–and go to local polling places to cast a vote for Antonio Villaraigosa for Mayor–Mike Feuer for City Attorney–and Eric Garcetti for City Council District 13.
