LOS ANGELES–His Beatitude Archbishop Mesrob Mutafyan–Patriarch of All Armenia’s in Turkey–visited the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of North America on Saturday–June 16. Accompanying Arch. Mutafyan was Reverend Father Drtad Ouzounian.
Prelate Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian and Chairman of the National Council Arsen Danielian welcomed Patriarch Mutafyan to the Prelacy. Mutafyan–in his turn–expressed his appreciation for the love and respect displayed by the Prelate and the Council.
The Patriarch delivered the warm wishes of the Armenian community of Istanbul to their brethren in Southern California. He spoke highly of the Western Prelacy–and his participation in the Blessing of the Holy Muron–held at the Cilician Catholicosate in Antelias–Lebanon last month. Mutafyan said he hopes the 1700th anniversary will help in the renewal of the Christian faith of the Armenian people.
After the meeting–the entourage visited Hollywood’s Saint Garabed Church–where Mutafyan performed canonical prayers. Mutafyan and Bishop Mardirossian also performed a healing prayer for Archbishop Zareh Aznavorian and Vartabed Bartev Gulumian–who had undergone surgery the previous day and are currently under medical care.
A reception was hosted by Prelate Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian at Kavar Restaurant in honor of Patriarch Mesrob Mutafyan. The group then visited Arch. Aznavorian and Father Gulumian at USC Hospital.
