YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A Syrian delegation–led by Syrian Parliament Speaker Abd Al-Kader Kaddura–arrived in Yerevan on Monday for an official visit to Armenia. The delegation visited the Tsitsernakapert Memorial on Tuesday–where Kaddura placed flowers in memory of the victims of the Genocide.
The delegation also visited the Genocide Museum. "This Museum reminds us of the Armenian struggle for freedom," said Kaddura. The speaker also noted that the coming generations must remember their fathers and grandfathers who were victims of the Genocide.
In response to a question on whether the Syrian parliament plans on officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide–the speaker stated that feelings cannot be made into decisions. "What we have in our hearts is stronger than those written down on paper," he said. The speaker also noted that there are several deputies of Armenian nationality in the Syrian parliament–and stressed that the Genocide issue might be discussed.
