State Choir Performs in Athens

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A concert of the State Choir of Armenia led by choirmaster Hovhannes Tjekijan was held in the "Irodion" ancient amphitheater in Athens on July 22nd as part of the traditional Greek festival.

Among other festival events–this year’s program also marked the 100th anniversary of the death of great Italian composer Juseppe Verdi. The Armenian choir and the State Symphonic Orchestra of Athens under guest conductor from Georgia Jansug Kakhidze also presented Verdi’s "Requiem." Cluz Adriana Simon from the National Opera of Bucharest–Kena Dimitrova from Bulgaria–Italian tenor Albert Crutinto and bass singer of the Budapest Opera Totvan Percelo performed solo pieces.
