YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Judge Samvel Uzunian–rejected a petition by Karen Hunanian (the younger brother of the principal defendant Nairi Hunanian from the 1999 parliament attack) who requested to relocation of his brother from the national security prison to a jail run by the interior ministry.
The younger Hunanian complained that he was kept alone and was subjected to threats and psychological pressure–but refused to disclose who threatened him. Moreover–he proposed that his elder brother Nairi be relocated from the national security detention prison–but the latter was not aware of the petition and voiced his opposition to it–stressing that the national security prison officers did not subject him to any kind of pressure.
The lawyers representing the interests of the families victim’s were also against relocation of the defendant–citing deputy interior minister who had said at the previous court session that ensuring isolation of the defendants in the interior ministry’s prison would not be an easy thing.
