Armentel Has No Right to Introduce Per Minute Charges

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Vazgen Manukian–the leader of the National Democratic Union (NDU) and the chairman of a parliament ad hoc commission–set up an investigation to find out how Armentel–the country’s sole telecommunications operator–is fulfilling its commitmen’s to Armenia. Manukyan accused the company’s leadership of openly violating its commitmen’s–set by the purchase contract.

"Armentel has announced it is going to introduce per minute charges for telephone conversations beginning from September 1–but after examining the contract we have discovered it is not entitled to do so," Manukian said.

Manukian said solutions to more serious questions were still ahead–and that they should be solved jointly with Armentel’s leadership
