California Democratic Delegation Arrives in Armenia

GLENDALE (Armenpress)–The first delegation of elected state officials along with Armenian leaders and local businessmen from Los Angeles–will embark on a six-day trip to Armenia to build trade ties and promote understanding.

Democratic Assembly members Dario Frommer of Glendale–Carol Liu of Pasadena–Joseph Simitian of Palo Alto and Jenny Oropeza of Long Beach will be joined by George Pla–president and CEO of Cordoba Corp.–and company partner Maria Mehranian.

Trade discussions will be at the top of the delegation’s agenda. "My primary goal is to do what I can to facilitate not only by building connections and bridges there–but bring back information here," said Oropeza–who chairs the International Trade Subcommittee. During meetings with Armenian officials–Oropeza said the delegation will discuss establishing an understanding between California and Armenia–a step toward the state establishing a trade office in the Armenian capital of Yerevan.
