City Redevlopment Fund to be Created

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s Parliament passed a resolution creating a town-planning fund. There are several problems concerning town-planning–the financing of which is the primary problem. Armenian Minister of town-planning David Lokian–informed reporters about this decision during a press conference–also said that constructing a monument in Katnaghbjur–Mushegh Galshoyan’s place of birth–and foundation of Alexander Tamanian’s museum are among the mentioned programs.

The government has already granted 5 million drams to Tamanian’s museum foundation program–but its construction and furnishing needs further assistance and–according to minister–there are individuals and enterprises ready to support this program.

Lokian also said that the centralization of means is also important for solving the problems faced by Armenian government within town-planning industry. As an example he stated the invitation to participate in exhibitions in Italy–received by the Yerevan Engineering Museum–faces financial problems which could inhibit its participation in the exhibition.

Directors will be appointed for each program of the fund. Particularly the program of Mushegh Galshoyan’s monument will be directed by writer’s wife–and Tamanian’s gran’son will be appointed the director of museum foundation program.
