YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Gabriel Sargsyan–the top chess player of Armenia among the juniors–is performing remarkably at the world U-20 chess championships in Athens–Greece. Beating his opponents in the last three games–Gabriel Sargsyan now has 8 points–after 10 rounds–leading the tournament. Another participant from Armenia–Levon Aronyan–has 7 points and now shares 4th-8th places.
Lilit Mkrtchian from Yerevan–performing in girls’ competitions–shares 3rd-7th places having 7 out of 10 possible points. A girl from China and a girl from Romania share the first place with 7.5 points after 10 rounds.
