Kocharian Says Armenia’s Judicial System Is Independent

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s President Robert Kocharian met with Vyacheslav Lebedev–the chairman of Russia’s Supreme Court–who leads the delegation that arrived in Yerevan at the invitation of the Court of Appeals of Armenia on Tuesday.

According to Kocharian’s press office–viewpoints concerning reforms in the judicial system of the two countries were discussed.

President Kocharian was quoted saying that a huge amount of work has been done in Armenia to reform the legal system and create independent judicial bodies.

Kocharian said the Armenia’s judicial branch of government has become independent as a result of an extensive range of reforms. "They are subordinate only to laws and Armenian Constitution," he was quoted as saying.
