LOA ANGELES–Michael Mahdesian–a former Senior Executive in the Clinton Administration–has been nominated by Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn to be one of LA’s Area Planning Commissioners. Mahdesian–a native of Los Angeles–will preside over the south San Fernando Valley area–which includes the Ventura Blvd. corridor from Woodland Hills to North Hollywood.
Mahdesian received his MA in Urban Planning at UCLA–and sits on the Board of Advisors at UCLA’s School of Public Policy. He returned to Los Angeles after seven years with the Clinton Administration as the Deputy for the Bureau of Humanitarian Response at the US Agency for International Development where he managed US assistant programs to war torn countries such as Bosnia–Rwanda–and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is currently Chairman of Servicon Systems–INC.–a company servicing large industrial and aerospace facilities throughout the southwest US.
Mahdesian–a longtime activist in the Democratic Party–as well as in the Armenian American community–is looking forward to his new role in the Hahn Administration. "After working on political and economic development internationally–it will be a real honor to help shape the future development of the city I’ve grown up in," said Mahdesian–"especially Under Hahn–who I know and have the greatest respect for." Mahdesian’s nomination will soon go before the LA City Council.
