Armenian Writers Welcome European Writers

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Some 20 young writers from 17 European countries are arriving in Armenia in early October by the invitation of the Armenian Association of Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries. The state commission for handling the festivities and events dedicated to 17 centuries of Armenia’s conversion to Christianity has provided some financial assistance to support the visit.

Deputy chairwoman of the Association Hasmik Poghosian said the gathering’s goal is to help Armenian writers establish contacts with Europe’s writers–to bring together translators and publishers–and help spread Armenian literature in Europe and European literature in Armenia.

"The visit of European writers is believed to promote the dialogue of cultures and nations. The visitors are expected to contribute their impressions of the visit to a special book which will be published next year," she said.
