New TV Channel Hopes to Shock Armenia

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An Armenian Russia-based businessman Tigran Karapetian is launching a new TV channel in Armenia on November 25. This will be the 18th operating TV channel in Armenia.

"The new channel is called Alternative Information Means (AIM) and its credo is ‘to call things they way we see them,’" said Tigran Karapetian.

The channel will broadcast for seven and a half hours a day with four news bulletins–one of them in Russian. Karapetian said that 90 percent of the programs will be in Armenian.

The new channel is equipped with most advanced technology. Karapetian said he had brought together a very professional staff. "None of the local TV channels has yet shocked the public and we are going to do it," Karapetian said–adding that the personnel medium salary would be between $100 and $400.

The new TV channel is one of many components of AIM holdings–a strong informational structure with a radio station–newspaper–statistical–and sociological agencies. Karapetian said he invested $3 million in the project.
