Putin Chirac Congratulate Kocharian on Independence

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–On September 22–President Robert Kocharian welcomed Chairman of the Armenia-France Friendship Group of the French Senate–Senator Jacques Oudin who forwarded the congratulatory messages of France’s President Jacques Chirac and Senate Speaker Christian Poncelet for the 10th Anniversary of Armenia’s Independence.

The Presidential Press Office provided reporters with the text of Jacques Chirac’s message: "Mr. President–Dear friend,

I asked the Chairman of the France-Armenia friendship group of the French Senate–Senator Jacques Oudin to represent me at the events marking the National Holiday of Armenia–in particular–the events marking the 10th Anniversary of Independence. Let me express my warmest wishes to you and the Armenian people."

President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated Armenia’s President Robert Kocharian for the 10th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence. Putin message said:

"I cordially congratulate you and the entire Armenian nation on the 10th Anniversary of Armenia’s Independence.

The Russian-Armenian relations based on the centuries-old friendship between our peoples have acquired a very cooperative nature in accordance with the fundamental interests of Russia and Armenia. The bilateral cooperation successfully developing in all spheres has become a major factor of strengthening our cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty and the Commonwealth of Independence States and of our efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the Caucasus.

I remember our recent meetings and productive negotiations in Yerevan during which we developed and coordinated major criteria for further developing and deepening Russian-Armenian relations."
