The event was sponsored by the Hamazkayin Central Executive and organized by Hamazkayin Western USA Regional Executive and Los Angeles Nshan Palajian Hamazkayin Jemaran Association.

Dr. Sahag Baghdasarian began the ceremony and invited Hrayr Karabedian–Hamazkayin’s Regional Chairman to remember and praise the community leader Hratch Dasnabedian.

Suzy Ohanian of Nshan Palajian Hamazkayin Jemaran Association–a former student–spoke about Dasnabedian’s influence both as a teacher and school principal in educating the future generations of dedicated Armenia’s–many of whom continued his work by becoming teachers or community activists themselves.

The evening featured several artistic performances including Salpi and Sossy Kerkonians performances of "Pari Aragil" and "Tu En Klkhen" as well as Arpi Saghpazian’s performance of "Elegy" and "Tocada" on piano.

The first principle speaker of the night was Armen Donoian who spoke about Dasnabedian’s life. He stated that Dasnabedian studied chemistry in France and later was invited by Simon Vratsian to teach and since 1968–Dasnabedian has been the principal of Jemaran. Due to his educational and ideological background both as a teacher and as a party member–Dasnabedian was able to educate many generations following him about Armenia Memorial Ceremony dedicated to Dasnabedian and its rich history. Donoian stressed that Dasnabedian’s contributions to the Armenian community went beyond education–and including literature–science–history as well as architecture.

Dasnabedian’s most influential contributions include the historical book series dedicated to founding fathers of the ARF. He has also written several other significant books about ARF history–and the Armenian cause.

Viken Yacoubian–ARF Western US Central Committee representative–spoke about the public figure Dasnabedian represented. Yacoubian lauded his contributions to the community and party–mentioning his negotiations with Levon Ter-Petrossian when the ARF was banned in Armenia and Hratch Maroukhian was asked to leave the country. "Hratch Dasnabedian was a multi-talented person with a wide range of interests including education–public leadership–history–party ideology–politics and culture," said Yacoubian. "His personality was formed during his youth when he joined Armenian Youth Federation (AYF) and the Zavarian Student Association. Since his youth he served his people and his party. For over 40 years he was a party leader holding numerous leadership positions in the Central Committee and Central Bureau levels."

Upon the conclusion of the evening everybody watched a video of Dasnabedian’s speech he delivered in Glendale–where he said that he never regretted the profession he chose.

His greatest joy came from being helpful to his students. Dasnabedian was also very much interested in photography and artistic expressions–but he dedicated all his time to educating the students of Jemaran.
