Government Resolute in Forbidding Per Minute Billing

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia’s government is resolute in forbidding the introduction of per-minute billing system by ArmenTel. On October 11–Minister of Transport and Communication Andranik Manukian urged the customers of ArmenTel "to refuse to pay the required charges. ArmenTel should apply the per-minute billing system only after it has fulfilled its contractual obligations." He also said that the Commission studying the activities of ArmenTel is still working and has not yet concluded its efforts.

The minister says that ArmenTel has submitted new charges which–according to the minister are "insignificant concessions." Manukian believes that the only reason why ArmenTel made these concessions was because the government and "the international organizations" demanded them.
