ARF Reps Meet With OSCE Officials

YEREVAN(ARF Press )–Armenian Revolutionary Federation Executive Council of Armenia members Armen Rustamian and Eduard Ghazarian–as well as senior analyst for the ARF Parliament faction Arsen Hambartsumian met with OSCE office director Ambassador Roy S. Reeve and his assistant Elaine Konkevich on Thursday at the OSCE office in Yerevan.

During the meeting–organized by the ARF Executive Council–the participants discussed issues regarding the activities of OSCE Yerevan office as well as other regional security and cooperation issues. Ambassador Reeves familiarized the ARF representatives with the OSCE efforts–which aims at establishing a civilized society in Armenia–strengthening Armenia’s democracy–and its regional multi-lateral cooperation.

The OSCE director pointed out the necessity for improvemen’s within the law enforcement institutions in Armenia–particularly for combating domestic corruption.

A special arrangement between the ARF and OSCE was made making both organizations more transparent by opening windows to greater information exchange–and an agreement was made ensuring OSCE’s commitment to provide expert assistance to the ARF factions legislative work within the National Assembly of Armenia.

Rustamian–Ghazarian and G. Manukian also met with Russian Ambassador to Armenia Anatoly Dryukov–Thursday at the ARF Simon Vratsian Center.

During the meeting both sides discussed regional issues as well as issues regarding the political developmen’s and socio-economic situation of Armenia.

The Ambassador and the ARF representatives discussed the current anti-terrorist struggle campaign. Both sides agreed to condemn any country which takes advantage of the situation in order to reach its own political goals by presenting–not verified–unreal targets.

The Ambassador reiterated Russia’s official position on the Karabakh conflict–which supports a resolution through peaceful negotiations and the necessity of excluding any military interference.
