YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An international forum dedicated to cooperation among religions and the preservation holy sites took place in the city of Taipei in China on November 9-12.
The envoy of the Catholicos of Great House of Cilicia to Kuwait and countries of Arabian Gulf Archbishop Eprem Tapagian–together with more than 200 of the world’s spiritual leaders–politicians–scientists–representatives of international cultural organizations took part in the forum.
According to the press office of the Great House of Cilicia–on the first day of the forum a "Museum of World Religions" was opened.
During the forum Archbishop Eprem read Catholicos Aram I’s message–in which His Holiness stated the importance of preserving the religious churches and temples throughout the world. Aram I also reminded everyone that cultural genocide is still continuing–and that everyone needs t remember the Armenian Genocide organized and carried out by the Ottoman Empire at the beginning of the 20th century. Many Armenian historical temples and holy sites are in ruins or abandoned because of the Genocide.
The participants of the forum approved a joint settlement–by which they decided to search for the destroyed religious landmarks and promote their preservation and reconstruction–as well as to condemn efforts to destroy these historical monumen’s.
