Armenia’s Awarded for Their Care for POW’s Graves

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The German Government awarded two Armenian citizens–Aghvan Tadevosian and Koryun Haroutiunian–with the Order "For Services" in appreciation for their care of the graves of German prisoners of war buried in Armenia. The award ceremony took place at the Germany Embassy in Armenia.

Germany’s Charge d’Affaires to Armenia Rudolf Berkner said that the award is given to German citizens and foreign states who have special merits to Germany. Berkner emphasized that over the recent years–Aghvan Tadevosian and Koryun Haroutiunian took great care of the at their own expense. The two even took their family members to work with them.

Koryun Haroutiunian said that the German people rendered much assistance to the victims of the 1988 earthquake in Spitak. Aghvan Tadevosian–for his part–noted that he worked with German POWs and had many friends among them.
