Defense Minister Meets Lebanese Delegation

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Defense Minister Serge Sarkisian met with a Lebanese delegation–led by the deputy chief of staff of armed forces of Lebanon General Fares Sofia on Monday.

The Armenian defense ministry said the two sides discussed the results of cooperation between the two countries in the area of military cooperation and prospects for their further development.

Sarkisian was quoted by the ministry’s press office as saying that the Armenian-Lebanese agreement on military and military-technical cooperation–signed last August–should be implemented immediately to develop a mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

The delegation also includes General Panos Mamjian–the first high-ranking military official of Armenian descent from a Diasporan community–to have visited Armenia.
