Azerbaijan Wants to See Turkey in Minsk Group

BAKU (Armenpress)–After meeting with Turkey’s new ambassador to Baku M. Cevikoz–Azeri Parliament Speaker Murtuz Aleskerov was quoted by the Turkish Anatolia news agency as saying–that Azerbaijan wanted Turkey to become a new co-chair in the OSCE Minsk group.

He said that bilateral relations with Turkey were improving in all fields and that the interparliamentary friendship group was working actively. He also lauded Turkey’s assistance in international organizations both countries were members of–and thanked Turkey’s businessmen for the major investmen’s they made in Azerbaijan’s economy.

Aleskerov lamented the fact that Azerbaijan’s peaceful attempts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were futile. "The region is an inseparable part of Azerbaijan and for us the only solution lies in ensuring our territorial integrity," he said.

Cevikoz agreed that Azerbaijan’s biggest obstacle was Nagorno Karabakh. He said a solution must be found with the help of international organizations.
