Baku Yerevan to Solve Karabakh Conflict Alone

BAKU (Armenpress)–Azeri President Heydar Aliyev said that he had a very detailed discussion about Karabakh with Armenia’s President Robert Kocharian in Moscow on November 30.

"However–there is no change in the Armenian and Azeri positions. We did not come up with any results. All the cochairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group–the US–Russia and France–believe that Armenia and Azerbaijan should reach an agreement on their own," Aliyev said.

He went on to say that the co-chairs will accept any option decided by Armenia and Azerbaijan. "The OSCE Minsk group co-chairs have told us that they will accept any resolution we decide on. After the November 30 meeting in Moscow–Russia’s President Vladimir Putin summarized our (Aliyev’s and Kocharian’s) discussion and said that they did not want to influence Azerbaijan or Armenia. Putin said that this was a very difficult conflict–and you have to resolve it yourselves. ‘Whatever decision you–the two parties to the conflict–make–Russia will support it and help implement it,’" Aliyev said.
