Vatican Envoy Says Farewell to Prime Minister

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s Prime-Minister Andranik Margarian met with the Vatican’s envoy to Yerevan–Peter Stephan Durbriggen–who is completing his diplomatic mission to Armenia.

According to the government’s press office–Margarian praised Durbriggen’s personal contribution to the development of relations between Armenia and Vatican and for supporting Armenian cultural–religious and spiritual values.

He also stated the moral and financial assistance the Vatican provided to Armenia after devastating earthquake of 1988–was greatly appreciated–as was the Vatican’s participation in the celebration of 1700th Anniversary of Adoption of Christianity in Armenia.

Thanking the Prime Minister and the Armenian government for their support and cooperation during his mission–the Vatican envoy assured them that the Vatican and the Pope will remain devoted to Armenian people and will continue to help reconstruct the earthquake zone as well as aid the general development of Armenia.

Margarian wished Durbriggen luck in his future activities and hopes that after opening a representative office in Yerevan–the relationship between the Vatican and Armenia will develop more actively and effectively.
