President Awards State Prizes for 2001

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President Robert Kocharian made his final decision to award Armenian individuals the "the state prizes in the field of literature and art."

After taking into account the proposals of the state commission–he signed a decree on Monday awarding the 2001 state prizes.

According to the President’s Press Service–the state prizes for 2001 were awarded to:

– In the field of music-Ruben Altunian for the "Hymn to the 1700th Anniversary" series of concerts;

– In the field of fine arts-Ruben Adalian for his personal exhibition at the Painters’ House in 2000;

– In the field of cinema art-Albert Mkrtchian (the script-writer and staging director)–Rudolf Vatinian (cinematography)–Anahit Kocharian (decorator) for the "Merry Bus" film;

– In the field of architecture and town-planning-Stepan Kyurkchian (author of the project)–Yuri Dallakian (architect)–Vazgen Poghossian (head of construction work)-for the St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan.
