Turkish Labor Party Opposes EU Membership

ISTANBUL (Marmara)–The Turkish labor party–Turk-ish–met with president Necmet Sezer Wednesday to voice its opposition to Turkey’s ascension to the European Union.

The party leadership said that the European Union was not honest in its dealing with Turkey–and aims to destabilize Turkey by reviving sentimen’s stemming from the 1920 Sevres Treaty.

Turk-ish claimed that Turkey will be divided if it enters the coveted European Union.

Among the examples provided to Sezer in a report were assertions that the European Union would urge the pullout of Turkish troops from occupied Cyprus.

Furthermore–the party officials also noted that the European Union would force Turkey to recognize the events of 1915 to 1917 as Genocide.

The party leaders also expressed fear that the European Union would assist the Kurdish population in Anatolia to create a sovereign Kurdistan.

Lastly–Turk-ish members said that the European Union has always had "pro-Greek" policy regarding a continuing strife over the Aegean Sea.
