NYT Ranks System’s Toxicity in Top 10 for 2001

The New York Times ranked System of a Down’s second CD Toxicity as one of the top 10 albums of 2001 in its Sunday–December 23 edition of Arts & Leisure Section.

With Times music critics divulging their top 10 choices for 2001–critic Neil Strauss ranked System’s "Toxicity" third in his pick of the top 10 albums.

"System of a Down proves to be the best–brightest and–well–weirdest in an unremarkable generation of nu metal musicians. Songs suddenly change direction–skid to a halt and snap from beauty to dissonance–each with a sense of righteousness–humor and rage–creating a dizzyingly intense second album that sounds like Black Sabbath covering Frank Zappa," Strauss wrote in his review.
