Burbank ANC Holds Christmas Reception

BURBANK–The Burbank Chapter of the Armenian National Committee hosted an Armenian Christmas Reception on Wednesday–January 9–2002 at Caf Elegante. A large crowd of Armenian National Committee members from Burbank joined important local officials and city employees to celebrate Armenian Christmas–which is traditionally observed on January 6th.

Attendees included members of the Board of Education–Mayor Bob Kramer and other members of the City Council–city department heads and employees as well as presidents and members of various Burbank City organizations.

"The Burbank ANC Christmas reception used to be an annual event which we’re hoping to start again," said Stepan Boyajian–Chairman of the Burbank ANC for 2002. "Our goal is to bring the community and its leaders together to better understand the Armenian culture and its traditions."

Last year–the Armenian Orthodox Church celebrated the 1700th anniversary of the Armenian people’s adoption of Christianity as their official state religion. The Christmas reception included brief commentary on the history of Armenian Christmas and descriptions of Armenian Christmas traditions.

"We hope that through events such as this one–we can build bridges with other organizations in Burbank which will lead to greater cooperation within our city and our community," said Ardashes Kassakhian–Director or Public Relations for the Burbank ANC.
