YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Armenian Association of Cultural Relations–in cooperation with the Armenian-Russian Association–hosted reporter and traveler Sergey Martirosian on Wednesday. Since August 6–1993–Martirosian used traveling as a way to spread the truth about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Martirosian started his mission in Europe–visiting Poland–Germany–France and Portugal–and then left for the US and walked from Los Angeles to Washington in about a year. He also walked through Latin America. Martirosian commented that he passed all across Europe on foot–but in Latin America there were some places where he had to travel by car. At the end of each year he returns home to celebrate the New Year with his relatives–after which he starts his walking travels again.
In February–2001 he passed through all the riverside cities of the Volga River in Russia–and met with Moscow’s Mayor Yuri Luzhkov in Moscow.
Also in 2001–Martirosian took part in the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of Armenia’s adoption of Christianity and walked to Bethlehem and visited the place where Jesus Christ was born. Then he left for the Persian Gulf and walked through Iran.
Martirosian’s travels are mainly financed by businessmen and supported by the Armenian communities. He is also supported by a number of international organizations.
During all his travels he has shared the history of Armenia–the Armenian people–the true state of Nagorno Karabakh.
