MOSCOW (Armenpress)–There should be neither winners nor losers in the Karabakh conflict," Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Azeri President Haydar Aliyev who is on an official visit to Moscow.
Putin said that Russia is "extremely interested in the final resolution of the conflict and hopes to increase the level of its relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia."
"Russia–as well as Azerbaijan think that there is no alternative to the peaceful solution to the conflict," Putin said–adding that Russia will continue its efforts–both in the OSCE Minsk group and on bilateral level to help the sides come to a mutually acceptable–peaceful resolution.
For his part–Aliyev said he was pleased with Russia’s and Putin’s active efforts in trying the mediate this issue. "I am happy that Russia and its president are undertaking active steps to find a resolution to the conflict," Aliyev said. "Resolution of the Karabakh conflict has a vital importance for the entire South Caucasian region and the Europe," Aliyev said–urging Russia to play a bigger role in it.
