YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Mohammad Farhad Koleyni–the Ambassador of Armenia to Iran–said at the 23rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran–that Armenia and Iran are very friendly neighbors and their relationship should be used as an example for other civilized countries. The anniversary celebration was held at the Armenian Society of Cultural Ties and Cooperation (ASCTC) on Monday.
According to the ambassador–the development of cooperation in political–cultural–economic spheres–trade-economic ties and mutual visits of more than 150 delegations continues to strengthen relations between the two countries. Koleyni restated the Iranian government’s readiness to cooperate intensively with Armenia’s government on the issue of abolishing the visa regime between the two countries or reducing travel expenses between the two nations.
Babken Harutyunyan–doctor of historical sciences–mentioned in his report that the Iranian Revolution is different from other revolutions of the 20th century. Its guiding ideology was Islam–and caused millions of people to rise in support.
Avag Khachatryan–the Rector of the Hrachya Acharyan University–and Chairman of the Armenia-Iran Society–reported that strong ties between the University and the Free University of Iran were established in 1994. As a result–now the Armenian language–literature and translation department functions at the Iranian University and a branch of the Free University was opened at the Hrachya Acharyan University.
