Georgia’s Speaker Addresses Javakhk Concerns with OSCE Rep.

TBILISI (Armenpress)–Georgian parliament speaker Nino Bourdjanatse Thursday told visiting OSCE High Commissioner on national minorities Rolf Ikeus that the planned pull-out of the Russian army from Javakhk will adversely affect the social welfare of the Armenian population there.

She told Ikeus that entities such as OSCE Commission on National Minorities could be play a decisive role in addressing such problems–especially in the implementation of "Georgian as the national language" framework.

The parliament speaker believes that the implementation of the pending language legislation could greatly enhance chances for minorities to redirect their professional capabilities.
