ARF Leaders Meet With Republican Counterparts

YEREVAN (ARF Press Service)–Members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Executive Council of Armenia met with leaders of the Republican Party of Armenia–including prime minister Andranik Markarian–Deputy Parliament Speaker Tigran Torosian and others.

The ARF delegation was led by Executive Council chairman Armen Rustamian and members Aghvan Vartanian–Mikael Manoukian and Gegham Manoukian.

During the meeting issues regarding Armenia’s domestic and foreign policy were addressed.

Special emphasis was placed on cooperation between the two parties on legal/judicial issues–especially as it pertains to the constitutional reform agenda–and changes in laws on political parties and election reforms.

The two sides agreed that both parties were in concert regarding approaches to the aforementioned issues–and pledged to strengthen that cooperation through programs and projects in 2002.

Rustamian and Mikeal Manoukian were joined by deputy governor of the Shirak region Romik Manoukian during a meeting Monday with European Parliament member Marie-Arlette Carlotti and vice-president of the Marseilles city council Christophe Massi and their delegation.

Rustamian presented the ARF’s position and posturing on several issues regarding Armenia political and economic situation and presented an overview of the 111-year-old party.
