Armenian Defense Minister Pays Official Visit to Cyprus

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A delegation headed by Armenian Minister of Defense Serge Sargsian left for Cyprus on February 20 for an official visit.

The purpose of the visit is to continue discussions about the issues of the Armenian-Cypriot cooperation in the sphere of defense. These discussions began during the visit of the Cyprus Minister of Defense Socrates Khasikos to Armenia in autumn 2001.

According to the Information and Propaganda Department of the Armenian Ministry of Defense–Sargsian is to hold meetings with the political and military leadership of Cyprus and with local representatives of the Armenian Community.

The Minister of Defense will leave Cyprus on February 27 for St. Petersburg–to participate in a sitting of the CIS Board of Ministers of Defense and a Forum dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the CIS.
