Oskanian Confident Israel Will Revise Position

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"We regret that the Jewish people–only due to political interests–by leaving aside moral values–casts doubt on the fact of the Armenian Genocide," said Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian on February 20 during a meeting with the students of the Bryussov State Linguistic University in Yerevan.

He noted that it is hard to understand such an approach of Israel–at least from the viewpoint of the fact that the Jews had for many years been struggling for international recognition of the Holocaust.

In Oskanian’s words–it is the authorities of Israel who cast doubt on the fact of the Armenian Genocide–while the Jewish people strongly struggle for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Oskanian said that many Jewish historians who have dedicated themselves to the research of that problem have made the fact of the Armenian Genocide irrefutable by their proofs and facts. "

So–we must be capable of feeling the difference–not to begin hating anybody–and to consider this issue in the political context," emphasized the minister.

Vardan Oskanian was confident that the time will come when the state of Israel will revise its policy–and said that he is certain this will be a result from the Jewish peoples’ pressure.
