Government Waits for Armentel’s Response

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian confirmed on Wednesday that the report of an inter-ministerial commission–set up to look into how Armentel telecoms monopoly was meeting its contractual obligations–was sent to the Greek OTE company and its subsidiary Armentel management.

Margarian said the report–which accuses the subsidiary of presenting inflated figures about the amount of its investmen’s in the telecommunications sector–was thoroughly examined by the government.

He added that the Armenian government is waiting for Armentel’s and OTE’s responses to decide on further steps. "In all cases we do not have reasons to doubt what the report says and we believe that OTE and Armentel must be held responsible for inflicting damages on the government–which holds 10 percent of shares in the company," Margarian said.
