Armenian Embassy Hosts Presentation of NK Arts

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–On March 7–2002–the Armenian Embassy in Washington hosted a presentation of Nagorno Karabakh Arts and Music Festival Project (NK Arts).

Ambassador of Armenia to United States Arman Kirakossian welcomed the participants of the evening and introduced the initiators of this unprecedented action that is designed to help Artsakh re-emerge as a cultural center of the South Caucasus and position Nagorno Karabakh beyond the stereotype of "conflict area".

Karabakh Representative of US Vardan Barseghian gave a brief overview of the project that is fully supported by the Government of the Nagorno Karabakh.

The historic town of Shushi has been selected as the official site for this biannual event–which aims to place Karabakh on the map of world festivals while also advocating an alternative model for economic development.

Founder and Executive Director of NK Arts Neery Melkonian showed a short documentary film about the project. An exhibit of exceptional paintings done by Karabakh children was on display as well.
