Armenian Delegation Withdraws from Istanbul Conference

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The delegation of Armenia’s Transport and Communication Ministry led by Minister Andranik Margarian interrupted its participation in the third conference of the International Union of Electrical Communication held in Istanbul–Turkey March 17-27–and returned to Yerevan on March 25. Reasons for their early departure were not explained by the ministry’s officials.

The conference–attended by representatives of more than a hundred countries–discussed issues of bringing the spheres of communication and information technologies closer together and overcoming the technological gap between the developed and developing countries.

It is expected that as a result of its work–the conference will adopt a document regarding perspective directions of developing the telecom sphere.
