STEPANAKERT (Armenpress)–President of Nagorno Karabakh Arkady Ghoukassian met on April 3 with the Minister for Economy–Employment and Foreign Affairs of Geneva government Karlo Lambresht–whose visit to Stepanakert was organized by the Armenian General Benevolent Union Geneva office.
During the meeting–President Ghoukassian presented the condition of economic system of Karabakh after the war–stressing that the revival of the destroyed economic substructures of Nagorno Karabakh is the primary task for the country’s government. "Besides the blockade–the country’s being unrecognized–which keeps the country deprived of the possibility to receive loans from international financial organizations–is a great obstacle on the way of the economy’s revival," said the president.
The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the improvement of the water supply system of the populated areas of Karabakh. Particularly–the issue on construction of a water pipe-line and water purification station in Stepanakert was discussed. Concerning this–Lambresht said that the Geneva government has an experience of supporting the realization of such projects in the Armenian Shirak and Ararat regions. He also said that upon his return to Geneva–he will study the possibility of providing such help to Nagorno Karabakh.
Stating the importance of Lambresht’s visit to Karabakh–President Ghoukassian expressed hope that such meetings will become regular.
