Hundreds Gather in Paris Before Presidential Elections

PARIS (Armenpress)–Nagorno-Karabakh Republic foreign minister Naira Melkoumian was among the hundreds of participants in a demonstration in Paris Monday–organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the "April 24th Committee," to present the expectations of the French-Armenian community–prior to that country’s presidential polls.

The French-Armenian community has expressed its position to all presidential candidates–asking them to halt Genocide denial efforts–put forth an international recognition of the Genocide measure and urge an end to the Turkish and Azeri blockades of Armenia.

During the four-hour demonstrations–representatives of presidential candidates answered French-Armenian community concerns–all of whom–according to Radio Free Europe–gave unequivocal support to Armenian concerns.

Melkoumian also addressed the crowd–outlining the Karabakh conflict peace process and emphasizing the importance of enhancing socio-economic conditions.

In a letter dispatched by President Jaques Chirac–who is seeking a second term in office–the Armenian Genocide became a topic when he said: "the Armenian Genocide is one of the most shocking crimes of the last century and one can’t revise history."
