ANC PAC Hosts Fundraiser for Frommer

Armenian National Committee hosts fundraiser for Assemblyman representing largest Armenian constituency in California

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE – The Armenian National Committee Political Action Committee hosted a fundraiser Sunday–April 7–2002 at the La Canada home of Armen and Maria Khatchatourian for California’s 43rd District’s Assemblyman Dario Frommer. The fundraising committee was co-chaired by Maria Mehranian–a long time ANC supporter and Oshin Harootoonian–boardmember of the ANC PAC.

Maria Mehranian introduced Assemblyman Frommer as "a dear and close friend of the Armenian community" and recounted episodes from their trip to Armenia together earlier last year. Oshin Harootoonian also thanked the Assemblyman for his support of the Armenian community and introduced Ardashes Kassakhian–the ANC PAC Government Relations Director who highlighted the ANCA-WR’s current legislative agenda in California.

More than 30 guests and elected officials attended the fundraiser to show their support for Assemblyman Frommer who represents the cities of Glendale and Burbank as well as parts of North Hollywood in the State Legislature. California’s 43rd Assembly district is home to the largest Armenian community outside the Republic of Armenia. Raffi Manoukian–the newly appointed Mayor of Glendale and Mayor of La Canada Flintridge Anthony Portantino both attended the event as well as Glendale Councilmember Frank Quintero–Crescenta Valley Town Councilmember Vasken Yardemian–and members and supporters of the Armenian National Committee. Chairpersons and members of the ANC Glendale–Crescenta Valley and East Valley Chapters were also present at the event.

Assemblyman Frommer thanked the Armenian community and the ANC for their support and pledged to continue working with the organization on issues of concern to the Armenian community in his district and at large particularly on issues of better trade relations with Armenia–education and health care.

Frommer was elected to the State Assembly in November of 2000. He faces reelction this November–but is running unopposed in the district–which following reapportionment has acquired sections of Studio City and North Hollywood.
