Thousands Flock to Alex to Mark Independence Day

More than 1500 community members attended a concert organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee marking the 84th anniversary of Armenian Independence.

Some 1500 community members unfortunately were turned away from the Alex Theatre in Glendale–where crowds began lining up for the free concert as early as 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Singers Harout Pamboukjian–Razmig Mansourian–Hovig Krikorian–Ara Shahbazian–Anahid Shahnazaian and Salpy Mailian were among the performers who dazzled the capacity audience with their renditions of national and patriotic songs.

Also participating in the program was the Glendale High School chorus–under the direction of Grace Sheldon-Williams–which sand the national anthems.
