YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Ashot Melik-Shahnazarian–chairman of the World Committee of Pan-Armenian Games–announced on May 30 that the Third Pan-Armenian Games will take place in 2003 from August 16 to 24. He said the estimated number of Armenian athletes to arrive in Armenia from around 60 different cities around the world may reach 3,000.
According to Deputy Sport Minister Ishkhan Zakarian–the Armenian government has committed to cover living and food expenses of Diaspora Armenian participants.
Melik Shah-Nazarian said they would do everything to avoid the mistakes and shortcomings of the Second Pan-Armenian Games. One of the major goals of the Games is to bring Armenian youths from abroad to see their homeland.
