YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"The tragic events of October 27 seriously damaged the image of Armenia. They also put off the process of consolidating relations with the Diaspora for several years," Chairman of the Union of Russian Armenia’s Ara Abrahamian said at the Second Armenia-Diaspora Conference. According to him–to consolidate the national statehood–first of all we need strong economic basis and a dynamically developing economy.
Abrahamian welcomed the fact that during the recent years–local and foreign investmen’s have been encouraged in Armenia. According to him–"It is one thing to encourage and another to create favorable conditions for investmen’s." He pointed out that to make investmen’s businessmen expect to see positive changes in the legal–taxation and financial spheres. According to Abrahamian–to ensure a real economic growth at the expense of investmen’s–the clan system in the economy should be eradicated. The authorities must struggle and take decisive measures to remove administrative obstacles–to eradicate bribery and corruption. "Otherwise–large investmen’s and economic progress will remain good intentions," Abrahamian said.
