Noah’s Ark Replica to Be Built On Ararat

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A replica of Noah’s Ark is going to be built on top of Mount Ararat in Turkey to attract tourists–"Ananova.com" reported. It will house a museum–restauran’s–a conference hall and shops to attract tourists back to a region that for years suffered the ravages of war. Mount Ararat stands on the border between Turkey and Armenia.

Turkish Tourism Minister Mustafa Tasar told Turkish newspaper Milliyet that a five-mile-long cable car will take visitors from the foot of the mountain to the summit.

Mount Ararat has attracted considerable attention from archaeologists in the last decade who have been searching for remnants of the "real" Noah’s Ark. Authorities in the region have been endeavoring to attract tourists back to the area since the end of the war between the Workers Party of Kurdistan (PKK) and the Turkish Army.
